It’s amazing to think we own a caravan!! I never thought we would be one of those slow going cars that pull out of there drive on a Friday afternoon and returns Sunday evening.
We have joined the caravan club and our first weekend was a great success. We did not venture very far but very enjoyable. With the Humber securely attached to the Portafold we made our way to Norton Fitz Warren steam rally.
We arrived on site and a friendly neighbour made us a cup of tea. Before the tea got cold the portafold was up and ready for use.
We had plenty of time to Relax and a look around before our booked trip to the seaside town of Minehead. It was full steam ahead and fish and chips for supper.
The journey back by steam in the dark was awesome, the steam glowing red in the darkness of the night sky.
First nights sleep in the portafold was a little uncomfortable but a rethink the following night solved the problem.
The high lights of the weekend included Nash Metropolitan , DMU trip to Bishops Lydyard .
The shopping was pretty good too, we purchased a large round 1930’s rug ( just need to work out where to put it ) and a few bits of China.
Once again this show like so many is ran by Volunteers who work non stop over the weekend so a big thank you to them.
We finished the weekend with a late trip to Yatton to watch a Class 33 loco arrive after its trip to Par in Cornwall.
